DR. MRS. LILIAN AYETE-NYAMPONG
DIRECTOR, RESEARCH

 

Dr. Mrs. Lilian Ayete-Nyampong is the Director of the Research Department at the Head office of the Commission on Human Rights and Administrative Justice (CHRAJ). Prior to assuming this position, she was Deputy Director of the Public Education Department from 2005 and Head of the Research Unit from 2000. Lilian has worked with the CHRAJ for more than two decades and has played a pioneering role in both the establishment of a research function and its current expanded role as a department. She has contributed to and supervised many of the Commission’s institutional research reports yielding useful empirical evidence in Ghana.

Dr. Ayete-Nyampong was awarded a scholarship by the Netherlands Fellowship Programme in 2008 and with the support of the Commission, undertook a PhD study on children in conflict with the law in Ghana. Lilian has presented more than 80 academic and professional papers at workshops and conferences in Ghana and other countries and has contributed a number of scholarly articles published by peer-reviewed journals.

Currently, Lilian is advancing efforts towards the establishment of a Research and Training Centre (RTC) in keeping with the Commission’s Strategic Plan. The RTC is aimed at promoting effective collaboration in training and research programs amongst the Commission’s internal and external actors. -+Lilian holds a Master’s degree in Educational Studies from the University of Aberdeen, Scotland (1995) and a PhD degree in Development Sociology (2013) from the University of Wageningen, the Netherlands.
