CHRAJ’s Commissioner, Joseph Whittal Unanimously Elected As President Of The Network Of National Human Rights Institutions In West Africa At The Annual General Assembly Held On The 31st Of May, 2019 At The Best Western Premier Hotel, Accra, Ghana.
Mr. Joseph Whittal, Commissioner of the Commission on Human Rights and Administrative Justice (CHRAJ) has been unanimously elected as the President of the Network of National Human Rights Institutions in West Africa (NNHRIs-WA) during its Annual General Assembly (AGA) held at the Best Western Premier Hotel on 31st May, 2019 in Accra, Ghana.
CHRAJ was last Friday elected to take up the Presidency of the NNHRIs-WA.
In addition, the Secretariat of the Network which was located in the Human Rights Commission of Nigeria, was unanimously agreed by all 15 member states to be re-located to Ghana’s CHRAJ.
Prior to this, Ghana’s National Human Rights Institution (CHRAJ) had retained its ‘’A’’ Status Reaccreditation for being in compliance with the Paris Principle, a set of international standards for measuring the independence and effectiveness of all NHRIs in the world by the Global Alliance of National Human Rights Institution (GANHRI) in March 2019.
