In a remarkable show of commitment to womenโ€™s health and empowerment, the Commission on Human Rights and Administrative Justice (CHRAJ) Madina Office in collaboration with the Madina Polyclinic, hosted a breast cancer screening and educational program on Thursday, October 23, 2025, at its premises in Madina. The event brought together scores of women from various communities within the La Nkwantanang-Madina Municipality for a day dedicated to awareness, education, and preventive health care.

The initiative, organized as part of Breast Cancer Awareness Month, aimed to encourage early detection and provide participants with vital knowledge about breast health. The program was held under the theme โ€œEarly Detection Saves Livesโ€, reflecting CHRAJโ€™s ongoing commitment to promoting not only human rights but also the right to health and wellbeing for all citizens.

Health professionals from the Madina Polyclinic conducted free breast cancer screenings, offered clinical examinations, and educated attendees on how to perform regular self-examinations at home. Many women expressed appreciation for the initiative, noting that the exercise provided them with both medical support and vital information they might not have had access to otherwise.

Speaking at the event, Madam Araba Ashun Diaba Esq, the CHRAJ Madina District Director, emphasized the importance of women taking proactive steps toward their health. She noted that CHRAJโ€™s mandate extends beyond addressing administrative justice to promoting the welfare of vulnerable groups, particularly women and children.

โ€œOur office recognizes that access to healthcare and education about diseases like breast cancer are fundamental human rights. By empowering women with information, we are safeguarding lives and strengthening communities,โ€ she stated.

Participants were also taken through interactive sessions on healthy lifestyles, nutrition, and stress management, with experts highlighting how these factors influence the risk of developing cancer. Informational leaflets and educational materials were distributed to ensure that the lessons learned extended beyond the event.

The program concluded with a heartfelt appeal for continuous community sensitization, urging women to regularly get screened and report any unusual changes in their bodies.

The CHRAJ Madina Office reaffirmed its commitment to collaborating with public health institutions, civil society, and the media to ensure that more women gain access to preventive healthcare services and live healthier, more informed lives.

As the world continues to mark Breast Cancer Awareness Month, the Madina event stood as a beacon of hope, reminding all that early detection truly saves lives.
